Closing fire

Day closes
in wandering chatter
losing itself
in waves
edging our
pebbled shore;

stones skitter
over the surface,
lead trails
to the horizon —
fading circles
on yellow water

    • Thank you. I so appreciate it. And you are right — in fact, nature doesn’t seem to need much help in telling all these stories!

  1. This feels so comforting to me today, so thank you. I keep getting drawn back to “wandering chatter” and its echo, “stones skitter.”

    • I am so glad. Sometimes, we just need to stare into the haze a few minutes. Thanks much.
