of all the angels
who wandered and waited
or not
who landed before me here, there,
what brings you to face me now?
unwitting teacher
player of basketball
transient
night flier, subtle questioner,
what have you revealed of me?
of all the angels
who wandered and waited
or not
who landed before me here, there,
what brings you to face me now?
unwitting teacher
player of basketball
transient
night flier, subtle questioner,
what have you revealed of me?

I’ll admit that I don’t understand all I know about this one! But that’s not important. What IS important is that it makes me FEEL again…alive, vital, and young! And that’s a tall order for one short poem! 🙂

Love how those two self-contained stanzas work together. That second one, esp. has so much movement. There’s such richness, too, in placing the angel as the transient flier and subtle questioner…
I think I won’t try tanka after all. You got this. 🙂

Thank you for this encouragement. These stanzas came pretty quickly — it always helps to have an inspiration, as rare as that is. 🙂
