Twin waters

Water runs in streams
through sandy swales,
clear and cold and quick,
carves underedges
along tiny banks,
trails pebbles too large
to carry forward,
and returns again
in its own path to
the great, wild churning.

..

Water glides over
broken asphalt, shifts
its course over sharp,
jagged cracks,
deposits mud, clay
from baseball diamond
into crevices,
along its edges,
drips down to the dark
hollow underneath.

  1. Two beautiful little companion portraits. Great sounds. You’ve highlighted the contrasts and made them both so appealing, even the “city” view. The “dark
hollow underneath” is wonderfully mysterious and attractive.

  2. I admire both poems, one carrying forward to the wild churning, while the other dripping down to the underneath ~

  3. I like these, two poems. So many times I’ve watched the water in the city swirling and in my minds eye, seen those country streams and rivers. I could smell the water in this. Mysterious, bright, dark…water.

  4. Ah.. all that flows in water’s time.. goes on goes on..
to let it go.. the path is worn.. the time is now..
the water stays water.. no matter challenge
    in erosion of time..and place..water
never loses the essence of it..:)

  5. Thank you for following my blog. Warning: It is a true mishmash of what is on my mind and in my heart and it can, hopefully, be smile or thought inducing. I am looking forward to future posts from you. dVerse is good but I don’t get to read all you write! this is will be good to read more often.
